On Saturday the Vancouver Canucks secured their position in the Stanley Playoffs.

The Canucks (45-20-8) reached the playoffs after not being eligible for the last 3 seasons when the St. Louis Blues defeated 4-0 to the San Jose Sharks.

Vancouver, which did not play on Saturday and lost two in a row, four points ahead of the second-place Edmonton Oilers, is first in the Pacific Division.

Since 2019-20 for the first time, the Canucks has eligible for the playoff when in seven games in the Western Conference Second Round they lost to the Golden Knights.

J.T. Miller, who has 92 points (35 goals, 57 assists) led Vancouver this season. With 84 points (33 goals, 51 assists) Elias Pettersson is second. With 81 points (13 goals, 68 assists) Quinn Hughes is third on the Canucks, It is tied with Cale Makar for the most points among NHL defensemen.

Thatcher Demko has made 49 starts and is 34-13-2 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .917 save percentage, but due to a lower-body injury since March 9 he hasn’t played. Tied for third in the NHL with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen of the Buffalo Sabres and Charlie Lindgren of the Washington Capitals for whom he has five shoutouts.

Casey DeSmith has played in 26 games (24 starts) and is 11-7-0 with a 2.71 GAA, a .901 save percentage, and one shutout.

Vancouver is never the Stanley Cup winner but 3 times he has reached, 2011 is the most recent, when they defeated the Boston Bruins in seven games.
