In the Metropolitan Division the Flyer (36-28-10) are third, one point forward of the fourth-place Washington Capitals.

Briere said, “Most of his games we watched this year, almost all of them.” At the start after not playing much hockey, he was outstanding in the second half of the season but he was also good in the second half of the season. He was outstanding and dominated in the playoffs. He gives a very good impression in his playoffs series, so it excites us to bring him aboard.

In the last two years, he has gone through a lot and it has been a lot to him, the things that he can’t even imagine. Now for being able to answer the questions it’s a big moment for him, he can go on the ice and start with practice and face the media.”

On Friday Fedotov was on the ice along with defensemen Nick Seeler, Marc Staal, and Jamie Drysdale and forwards Denis Gurianov and Nicolas Deslauriers as he tries to adapt the game the way it is played in the NHL. But he didn’t think it would be a difficult challenge.

He said, “The main focus in Russia is on the puck, don’t think about it too much.” “All the goalies I’ve talked to say, ‘Don’t hesitate to stick to your usual style, stay focused, track the puck, and flow with the game’s pace.’ Even though it’s a bit quicker here, I thrive on that. I enjoy it when the game moves as swiftly as possible.”

Briere also said he wasn’t discussed about Fedotov’s ability to adjust.

He said, “In the KHL, the game is played more outside play. “But the advantage is because of his size (6-foot-6, 191 pounds), which may benefit him to play in traffic rather than the little guys.”

Fedotov will be the most recent try to stabilize the Flyers’ backup goalie position behind Samuel Ersson, who has held the position of the No. 1 goalie since Carter Hart took an unlimited leave of absence from the Flyers on Jan. 23 along with the four other players, including four NHL player, faced charges in an alleged sexual assault that occurred while they were representing the Canadian team at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.

He was then sent to Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League on February 29th. On the same day, Felix Sandstrom was called up from the AHL and played five games (three starts), posting a record of 1-2-0 with a 3.87 GAA and a .823 save percentage. Sandstrom was sent back to the AHL on Friday.

“Sam was kept informed, Felix was kept informed,” Briere said. “We tried to be transparent with our players regarding how the situation would impact them. However, we assured Sam, ‘You’ve earned the position as the No. 1, we have faith in you, we believe in you.’ We’ve been honest and upfront with both of them.”
